Home Heart Wisconsin **This is a made to order piece that does have a wait time.**
The heart can be put anywhere. Email me if you would like it somewhere other than where it is in these pictures.
Copper is from St. Raphael’s Cathedral Steeple and it is blessed. The cornerstone of the cathedral was laid on the 28th of May 1854 and was presided over by the Rt. Rev. John Martin Henni, the Roman Catholic bishop of Milwaukee. In 1885, the steeple was added and remained with reconstruction efforts in 2004. Unfortunately, the cathedral fell victim to fire three months later. Reclamation efforts of the steeple began in late 2019.
Ever smell something that takes you back in time? Hear a song that transforms you back into a teenager cruising the strip in your friends car? For me, it’s the smell of wrestling mats and the dim hum of lights in a high school gym.
I built this piece with those feelings in heart and mind. I hope this takes you to your place. Home.
The story of the family history of the material is on the back. As always 100% locally reclaimed barn wood. Signed and numbered. Comes with a reclaimed nail so you can mark your favorite spot in Wisco... Hometown, cabin or special moment.
The entirety of my portfolio is founded on an ecological principle of upcycling Wisconsin’s proud heritage and landscape into visual and functional art for future generations, preserving the history of these buildings while bringing awareness to the need for us all to think before we consume. Every piece starts with a question; how can I transform material slated for refuse into beauty, value and a new life in our community? 59 tons of material saved from local landfills to date.
